The Carroll County Accident Full Lyrics
[00:11.48] Carroll County's pointed out as kinda square
[00:16.45] The biggest thing that happens is the county fair
[00:21.78] I guess that's why it seemes like such a big event
[00:27.03] What we all call the Carroll County accident
[00:32.36] The wreck was on the highway just inside the line
[00:37.17] Walter Browning lost his life and for a time
[00:42.11] It seemed that Mary Ellen Jones would surely die
[00:47.16] But she lived long enough for her to testify
[00:52.95] Walter Browning was a happy married man
[00:57.73] And he wore a golden wedding ring upon his hand
[01:02.98] But it was gone nobody knew just where it went
[01:07.95] He lost it in the Carroll County accident
[01:13.89] Mary Ellen testified he flagged her down
[01:18.53] Said he was sick and could she drive him into town
[01:24.04] No one even doubted what she said was true
[01:28.89] Cause she was well respected in the county too
[01:34.36] I went down to see the wreck like all the rest
[01:39.63] The bloody seats the broken glass the tangled mess
[01:44.74] But I found something no one else had even seen
[01:49.79] Behind the dash in Mary's crumpled up machine
[01:56.75] A little matchbox circled by a rubber band
[02:02.85] And inside the ring from Walter Browning's hand
[02:08.68] It took a while to figure out just what it meant
[02:13.43] The truth about the Carroll County accident
[02:18.62] By dark of night I dropped the ring into a well
[02:23.41] And took a sacred oath that I would never tell
[02:29.25] The truth about the Carroll County accident
[02:33.96] Cause the county ordered Dad a marble monument
[02:39.83] I lost him in the Carroll County accident
[02:45.03]
