The Pointless, Yet Poignant, Crisis of a Co-Ed Full Lyrics
[00:12.26] I'm not a leader, i'm not a left-wing rhetoric mobilizing force of one,
[00:17.76] But there was a time way back, many years ago in college, don't laugh,
[00:24.05] But I thought I was a radical, I ran the hemp Liberation League with my
[00:29.10] Boyfriend,
[00:31.36] It was true love, with a common cause, and besides that, he was a Sagittarius.
[00:40.60] We used to say that our love was like hemp rope, three times as strong as the
[00:47.79] Rope that you buy domestically,
[00:51.46] And we would bond in the face of oppression from big business and the deans,
[00:56.38] But I knew there was a problem, every time the group would meet everyone would
[01:00.57] Light up,
[01:03.62] That made it difficult to discuss glaucoma and human rights, not to mention
[01:08.43] Chemotherapy.
[01:38.47] Well sometimes, life gives us lessons sent in ridiculous packaging,
[01:44.46] And so I found him in the arms of a Student Against the Treacherous use of Fur,
[01:51.64] And he gave no apology, he just turned to me, stoned out to the edge of
[01:55.96] Oblivion,
[01:58.41] He didn't pull up the sheets and I think he even smiled as he said to me,
[02:05.36] "Well, I guess our dreams went up in smoke."
[02:08.58] And I said, No, our dreams went up in dreams, you stupid pothead,
[02:14.36] And another thing, what kind of a name is Students Against the Treacherous Use
[02:21.75] Of Fur?
[02:22.93] Fur is already dead, and besides, a name like that doesn't make a good acronym.
[02:29.24] I am older now, I know the rise and gradual fall of a daily victory.
[02:41.50] And I still write to my senators, saying they should legalize cannabis,
[02:46.28] And I should know, cause I am a horticulturist, I have a husband and two
[02:51.24] Children out in Lexington, Mass.
[02:55.09] And my ex-boyfriend can't tell me I've sold out, because he's in a cult.
[03:02.33] And he's not allowed to talk to me.
[03:06.48]
