Crooked Road and The Briar Full Lyrics
[01:07.46] Down the crooked road a ways
[01:13.88] A child's shadow hiding in the briar
[01:21.93] Tending to a twisted heart that's bent and broken
[01:31.46] Wounded and abandoned left amongst the rotted root to rot
[01:50.35] Moon, crimson moon
[01:57.19] Rose marie's walking down the crooked road a ways
[02:04.82] All aglow, her fair white skin
[02:11.66] Portrait of beauty, angel to many
[02:19.27] Hears the hush crying from the briar
[02:25.55] Reaches in her hand to see what's the matter
[02:32.86] And is dragged through the darkness
[02:39.10] Beneath the lonely cypress
[02:46.37] The town's beloved daughter
[02:52.63] Carried to her death in the turbid waters
[02:58.50] And set afloat downstream
[03:13.87] Whole town erupts, bursts into flame
[03:20.75] Parties go a-searching down the crooked road a ways
[03:27.92] Find old rufus there drunk and asleep
[03:35.20] Fishing by the water must have killed our beloved daughter
[03:43.35] Can't hold back these waves of anger
[03:48.71] Tie a rope around his neck
[03:53.27] See if he still hollers
[03:55.51] Another innocent soul hangs over the briar
[04:02.76]
